Our Mission
The Sunshine Stop creates meaningful, paid employment opportunities in a small shop environment, for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide our employees—The Sunshine Squad—with hands-on job training in vital skills such as money and time management, problem solving and communication. This fosters independence, builds self-esteem and encourages opportunity—enriching the lives of our employees, those around them and the community as a whole.
We offer part-time summer employment while partnering with local businesses in a true nonprofit model.

Are you the parent or guardian of a candidate who would like to join The Sunshine Squad? Please complete the application below and press send. If you have questions, please reach out via our Contact Page and select Employment in the checkbox. We will get back to you as soon as possible. Potential employees for the upcoming 2025 Summer Season will attend the All-Call Employee Orientation in May. To stay up to date, keep an eye out for details on our Events Page, and/or sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

Employee Spotlight
We would like to introduce you to Violet Lees. Violet loves her high school life at Minnetonka High School where she is a cheerleader with the Sparklers, the adapted cheer team, as well as manager of the girls tennis B team. She also particpates in her school's unified club, best buddies club and bowls on the adapted bowling team. And, she swims on an adapted synchronized swim team outside of school with fellow employee Ava Muench. She keeps quite the schedule!
Violet was delighted to work at The Sunshine Stop last summer because her summers are light with other activities. This was her first time earning a real paycheck and she was very proud. Her mom and dad were also very proud of Violet and noticed how pleased she was with her work. "This was Violet's first opportunity to know what it means to have a job and 'work a shift' in a non-school setting and we saw such pride and engagement," her mom noted.
